About us
My name is Rachel Murgatroyd and we have recently relocated to the Republic of Ireland. Don’t believe everything you hear about the rain it really isn’t so bad. I am still maintaining a business so don’t worry, the postal service out here is very good and any piece you require can be posted from the Emerald Isle.
I have been making wire jewellery for about 7 years, I love the way each piece of wire is a separate thing that wants to go it's own way, it takes patience and skill to make it do what I want it to. Working with wire is fascinating, you don't need to solder or pickle or any of the other things needed for standard smithing work, you simply start with a piece or several pieces of wire and bend them into your desired shape.
I teach wire wrapping at ' a small jewellery school in Kegworth (please see links page) and my students and I have wonderful fun. Everyone always produces something different and no two pieces are ever alike. The students finish the day with sore fingers and several pieces of jewellery and I have the delight of involving more people in working with wire. I hope to start classes in one of the barns at our new home in Ireland although this will be in the future, I will be posting how things are getting along on the website.
I use the same high standards when creating my wedding accessories. I prefer to use silver or gold fill in my tiara’s although I am very aware of budget restrictions and I will endeavour to produce to your requirements.
The feather bouquets have really become very popular easily outselling any other line. Wedding bouquets have always been individual but I have tried to take this a step further. Bridal bouquets with feathers and crystal look stunning and if you are have a wedding abroad they are very lightweight and travel well. For winter weddings they look amazing and have the added advantage of keeping your hands warm.
